If you are someone who appreciates a smaller company without many layers of management, we want to hear from you.  GSD Contracting is seeking a Project Superintendent to join our team of talented professionals and oversee construction of commercial, retail, health & fitness, hotel and church projects.  You will be responsible for the schedule, financial, safety, quality control, and client satisfaction of the project.

Snapshot of key accountabilities:

  • Ensure the Company complies with all applicable Federal, state and local laws and regulations (particularly OSHA and Building Codes) for areas under his/her direct control.
  • Establish adequate controls to safeguard Company assets.
  • Through the exercise of sound and ethical business practice create and promote the Company’s image as related to vendors, architects, engineers, owners,  employees and general public.
  • Completes all assigned projects on schedule.
  • Ensures construction quality meets the standards of GSD Contracting.
  • Ensures all projects meet the written and amended specifications and scope of work.
  • Ensures all subcontractor work meets the specifications and scope of work outlined in the subcontractor submittals.
  • Ensures all GSD inventory is protected from weather and theft.
  • Ensures building inspections are on time and do not delay the work in progress.
  • Issues RFI’s, Change Order requests and project schedules are submitted to the Project Manager for approval in a timely manner.
  • Advises the Project Manager of any conditions that may affect the project schedule or costs.
  • Advises the project manager of any complaints and/or contractor concerns involving work in progress or completed.
  • Manages all activities on his/her assigned project job site.
  • Ensures GSD safety policy is adhered to.
  • Works with subcontractors to ensure all subcontractors are observing safety standards.
  • Reviews and approves time sheets for those GSD employees assigned to his/her job site.
  • Completes and issues daily job reports and submits to the office at least weekly.
  • Ensures all materials ordered by GSD are received in acceptable condition.  Submits receiving documents to accounting.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:

  • 5 to 10 years experience as a construction superintendent with a successful track record of completing ground up commercial  projects  in the $1-10M range as the primary superintendent  managing every aspect of the job from start to finish
  • Experience reading and interpreting design documents and specifications
  • Well versed in sequencing and scheduling
  • Good computer skills including MS Office and general construction software such as MS Project
  • Fluent in English; Spanish a plus
