Project Manager – Owner’s Rep

DSS provides owners’ representative and project management services to the commercial, educational and governmental construction, remodeling and refurbishment markets.  DSS helps it’s clients by achieving significant savings during the planning phases and then keeping everything on track during construction.  Some of our exciting projects include the Ransom Everglades School, the iconic 1111 Lincoln Road parking garage, and The Clevelander Hotel.

About the position:

This position will initially oversee several construction projects for an elite and demanding educational facility with future responsibilities on other projects.  The Owner’s Rep will be an integral part of the construction administration process including:

Snapshot of key accountabilities:

  • Attend weekly meetings with the Owner, architects, consultants and other parties
  • Keep thorough notes of all meetings and write reports as requested by management
  • Hold other team members accountable utilizing correspondence, RFI’s, meeting minutes, design, schedule & budget analysis and reports
  • Resolve issues promptly
  • Write, administer and analyze RFP’s
  • Negotiate terms with the architect, engineers and contractors
  • Participate in the pre-development and design process for new projects

Each day is different from the next.  Working well with team members is key utilizing open non-confrontational communication.  Must be adept at quickly analyzing details, achieving mission critical deadlines and our business goals of delivering project on time and in budget.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge Required:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Project Manager or Owners Rep for a GC or Architectural firm
  • Strong ability in plan reading
  • Experience in construction administration, including submittals, shop drawings, RFP’s
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, MS Project (or other scheduling software) and Bluebeam (or other project management software)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field –preferred
