About the position:

The Area Manager will be accountable for the day-to-day operations of the FPL URD Davie branch with the potential to also oversee 2 other locations. The position is mission critical to our growth. Failure is not an option for our customer, FPL, and it is not an option for us. You will be providing support, guidance, and training to the branch field crews and ensuring that field operations are properly supported by managing and scheduling multiple crews. Profitability, efficiency and safety are paramount to your success. About 65% of your time will be spent in the office and 35% in the field.

Other key accountabilities include:

  • Strategically plan crew activities and resources needs with a 2-3 week look ahead schedule
  • Perform pre and post checks including fleet forecasting, ordering material, reviewing drawings, finalizing job packages
  • Participate in on site meetings with FPL, planners, designers, production leads
  • Ensure any changes in the job are reflected in customer billing
  • Keep FPL informed       of any problems
  • Ensure crews maintain equipment, care and cleanliness
  • Provide and verify all daily vehicle inspections
  • Teach and mentor less experienced apprentices
  • Work with Division Manager on project budgets

Skills/Experience/Knowledge:

  •  At least 10 years technical experience with a focus on high voltage projects
  • Minimum 2 years managing multiple crews
  • Understanding of job costing and project budgets
  • Understanding of fixed price, time & material, and unit contract mechanisms
  • Ability to read FP&L prints and drawings – one line and construction
  • Expertise in high voltage >13.2×23 volts
  • Bucket Truck/Boom Truck operation experience
  • Class A Journeyman Lineman is required
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with availability 7 days a week and nights when required
  • Available 24/7 hours during storm call outs
  • OSHA 10 certified
  • Computer literate
  • Bilingual highly desirable
