About the position:

 The Operations Manager will manage a team of 3 Project Managers that will increase over time on all projects from inception to completion. You will be responsible for ensuring the most effective and efficient scheduling and assignment of our company’s resources on each stage of the process, from take-offs, estimating and bidding to the last item on the punch list.  You will also supervise and hold the PM’s accountable for their duties and performance and act as the liaison between sales, fabrication and the installation/construction teams.

Snapshot of key accountabilities:

  • Designs, implements, enforces and adjusts the necessary processes to guarantee consistent and scalable success in the satisfactory completion of the Company’s projects
  • Confer with Project Managers to help address job site matters, such as work procedures, complaints, or construction problems
  • Supervise and approve the plans, schedules and proposed construction activities coordination to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Review and request corrections -whenever necessary- of budget estimates, progress reports, or cost tracking reports.
  • Ensure timely customer billing based on progress
  • Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, or other applicable regulations.
  • Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods. Approves or rejects each Project Manager’s construction method choices.
  • Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure that proper construction procedures are being followed and takes corrective measures when needed.
  • Directs and approves contracts or negotiated revisions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, or subcontractors.
  • Reviews and approves prebuilding assessments, such as conceptual cost estimating, rough order of magnitude estimating, feasibility, or energy efficiency, environmental, and sustainability assessments.
  • Ensures all permits are timely closed upon completion.
  • Direct and supervise the project managers’ performance on their assigned projects.
  • Reviews and approves proposed workers dispatching to construction sites.
  • Reviews and analyzes all supplies or materials requisitions to complete construction projects.
  • Visits job sites as required to monitor progress and reviews the Project Managers weekly report of progress. Reviews and approves work plans for the following week
  • Enforce all company and government safety requirements.

Skills/Experience/Knowledge required:

  • At least 10 years experience in Project Management of construction projects with high end interiors
  • Management of other Project Managers
  • Experience working with building inspectors
  • Strong computer skills in MS Office, especially in Excel
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable
  • Broad working knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the basics of building codes
