The Managing Director is a new position created to alleviate the day to day operations responsibilities of our CEO which will allow him to focus capital markets and new initiatives.   You will have a corporate impact seeing your ideas come to life because our flexible culture encourages innovation and efficiency.  You will also have a social impact because we are committed to rebuilding our residential communities and restoring the dream of home ownership to many Americans.

You must be able to thrive in a very demanding environment and willing to work the hours to achieve results.  We leave our egos at the door and have a “no excuses” mentality.  The management style required is a leader who is direct and seeks input from the team.  The ability to prioritize and focus on the tasks at hand is critical, since our CEO is a hard driver.  The ideal candidate is process oriented and data driven, with the ability to analyze deals quickly and spot trends.  A superb technical problem solver, the position requires well thought out decisions balanced by a sense of urgency with strong follow up and attention to detail.

About the position:

You will work closely with the CEO on developing long term growth strategies as well as the tactical responsibility for daily operations (acquisitions, construction, property and asset management) and capital markets (fundraising and investor relations).  Operations represents 50%, Capital Markets/Finance 30%, and New Initiatives 20% of the overall job responsibilities.

Critical outcomes include:

  • Develop a pipeline to handle the purchase of 300-500 homes a month
  • Establish JV’s with contractors in different geographical markets and regional JV’s with asset protection firms
  • Maintain an 85% occupancy rate during low seasons and an average effective occupancy of 95%
  • Build the asset and property management team to optimal size appropriate for our portfolio
  • Implement the ability to obtain data more quickly to measure the business at the click of a button through the use of reports and dashboards
  • Analyze work flow and processes and recommend improvements to make us more efficient
  • Assist in securing capital and develop plan for efficient deployment
  • Supervise our teams in India, Atlanta, GA and Orange County, CA

 

Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years operations experience  (experience with JV’s and/or controlling offices is of value)
  • Real estate experience ( investment banking, home building, property management, mortgage banking, asset protection firm of value)
  • A numbers wizard with ability to analyze deals quickly
  • Technologically advanced to include:
    • Expert level Excel for modeling, financial analysis
    • Database development skills –  understand work flows, know what needs to be changed in our system
    • Property management software
    • Accounting software
    • CRM system
  • Excellent and clear English; Mandarin is a plus
  • Ability to travel up to 40%
  • 4 year degree highly preferred; MBA of added value
